Waiting over 10 years for services?
In Indiana thousands of people with developmental disabilities are on waiting lists for services. Hundreds live in Cass and Pulaski Counties. These men, women and children can wait over 10 years before they are eligible to receive support.
-
10 years from the moment an infant or toddler is diagnosed with a developmental disability.
-
10 years from the time a young adult graduates from high school.
-
10 years from the moment aging parents realize they can no longer care for their adult child.
This is not acceptable.
The Board of Directors and staff at Peak Community Services could no longer sit on the sidelines and watch as people’s lives were put on hold.
In 2007, the Peak Community Services Foundation was created with this primary purpose:
To fund services for people who are on the waiting list.
We are the only agency in the state of Indiana that has taken this proactive step. It is thanks to our many generous and dedicated donors that we are able to fulfill this mission of bridging the gap.
How Many Are Waiting?
According to Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration, over 20,000 people are waiting for services.
Over 20,000 people who are missing opportunities:
-
to work
-
to gain independence
-
to achieve their dreams
This is not acceptable.
Donate and become a part of the solution.
